I was contemplating for a while on getting these. Knowing I have wider feet I was hesitant on purchasing them due to the structure of the sneaker. But one day out of the blue I saw a customer wearing the regular Stan Smiths in the green & white color way and somehow that persuaded me to get them. I've seen many color ways of the Raf Simons for Adidas Stan Smith but I was fond of the grey ones. I saw that they had gone on sale at Ssense.com, so I bit the bullet and got them because they had one size left, thinking it was my size. Upon receiving the first pair I got the sizing mixed up, for some reason a UK 10 was a U.S. 10.5 on the sneaker, and I'm an 11, that's usually a UK 10. Luckily the site had a second pair that was my size. I currently have the new pair.. Then came the Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers. But for now I will leave this blog in a cliff hanger and well see which sneakers I keep. I don't even know which sneakers I'm going to keep.

Quick School OOTD Details
Quick side note on my shoes, theres been a big debate to some people on sizing issues with these classic Balenciaga Arena hightop sneakers. The ones I have are from the fall 2013 collection, now at the time when I had received them for Christmas, I was given a size 43 which is a size 10 US size, only because it recommended to size down. For the past couple of years the Arena sneakers and some other sneakers by Balenciaga were known for being one size up for their sizing, not until recently when I went Mr Porter website and saw they had an abundance of sizes available because in the past, these would sell out fairly quickly. Like the time my siblings had gotten them for me. The only place (supposedly) that had my size which was a 43 because they said it would fit as a 44 / US Mens 11 which is my true to size was only available at the Balenciaga boutique in the Caesars Palace Forum shops. Also bare in mind this was just right after the price increase. So when I had received the sneakers I tried them on for the first time ever, because theres no Balenciaga stores around where I live other than the one in Los Angeles which is a two hour drive, which I was willing to do just so I can try the sizing difference. Nonetheless they were also sold out. Something in my gut feeling is telling me that my pair of Arenas are a true to size 10 instead of it being a size up. Therefore I think Im going to buy a pair from Mr.Porters and see if there is even such a difference with the pair I have. Although the accessibility of getting them is easy, it is the price increase that is kinda pushing me back from buying a new pair in my size. Having these size 43 Arenas has stopped me from Purchasing other Arenas because of the sizing issues. (I would sell these as well but they were a gift from my family and for some reason I have an attachment to them not only because they were my first pair of Arenas but they're from my family) Do in mind I have a bit of wide feet, so maybe taking the 44 in the first place would of prevent me from doing all of this research as to what size Arenas are accurate for my feet. I also looked at the size recommendation on on Mr.Porter and it says to take your regular size. Im guessing for 2015 they fixed the sizing issues which is a little irritating. Dont get me wrong I love my arenas, but the fit is just not right. As for now its a stand still on whether I want to get them, or get another pair in a different color but in a size 44. So for now I will update you guys sooner or later.

"Fat people can dress nice too"
For maybe half of my life, the phrase "Fat people can dress nice too", has always been my motto when dressing myself. Ofcourse like anyone else I find inspiration through other people, street style photgraphy, what the weather is going to be like that day, what event or gathering I'm going to be attending, or the more typical sense of trends that are happening in that moment. I feel when normal skinny people think of fat people dressing, its either something that is ill fitting, baggy, and in other words non fashionable.
Yes we are limited to resources for trendy pieces, stores like H&M, Zara, Forever21, though curvier women have retailers like Torrid, Lane Bryant. But what trendy stores are there for plus size men, upon personal research Ive only found Big and Tall Jcpenney. I believe its only pure luck for fat people who are into fashion, to find fashionable/trendy pieces to add to their wardrobe. Lets take a casual outfit, Ive found nice basic T-shirts, at big and tall Jcpenney, and if you do, stock up on them. I know plus size clothing can be expensive at times. To me spending 60$ for a flannel or a basic shirts is ridiculous for plus size clothing. Which is why I always wait for sales. For the past couple of months, Ive stopped buying clothing, i.e. flannels, shirts full price, because I don't feel the need to buy it for the price. I just wait until those items are marked down to almost 80%-90% off the retail price (This mindset of sale purchasing also goes for my lux items aswell, but of course if I have the money to splurge, I will treat myself. But other than that sales are my best mates.) Ive refined my wardrobe to have key pieces of button up long sleeves, ie. flannels, button ups, solid color basic t-shirt like black and grey, and paring it with accessories.
When you are a fashionable fat person, key accessories are your best friend. Whether it be hats, shoes, sunglasses, slg (small leather goods) accessories like bracelets. It can really had a stylish sense to your outfit. I usually like to pair a nice pair of shoes or bracelets to my outfit to add that cool effortless vibe, or lux feel.
Tailoring your clothes also helps achieve a stylish wardrobe, luckily for me my best friend has the ability to use a sewing machine. So she tailors my pants for me, and my tailoring them, she makes them more fitted to my liking. Usually when I buy new pants i.e. Docker black pants the areas around my legs fit like bell bottoms, she helps me taper them down to more look like fitted or skinny jeans. Typically i use one pair of pants until they give up on me, but making pants also is a plus, it gives you the opportunity to use the fabrics you want.
But lets be honest, its a lot of work being a fashionable fat person, from my experience and sometimes its just pure luck and effort on finding trendy items to add to your outfit. but in the end confidence is all you really nice. Ive seen plus size people pull off plus size clothing without accessories, or tailoring (Also you're probably thinking "Why not just lose weight" Forget that, thats a whole other blog post). You just need to find it in yourself, so if you don't like the plus size look and want to steer into a more trendy/cool wardrobe, confidence in finding clothes that fit your esthetic, it will help you achieve that.
